TROUBLESHOOTING

Find the question that matches your CAST model and the problem you are experiencing, then follow the guidance.

01

Display and connection

CAST+ · Connected to the car, but the CAST screen does not appear on the factory display

This is usually a cable or connection issue. ①Use the included genuine data cable (charging-only cables cannot transmit the display). ②Connect to a data-capable vehicle USB port; try other ports if available. ③Check that CarPlay/Android Auto is running on the factory screen. ④If the issue remains, restart and reconnect the device, then contact customer service if it continues.

CAST+ · It does not connect automatically at engine start; I have to unplug and reconnect USB several times

①Tap the vehicle's CarPlay/phone projection connection menu once (often this alone connects it). ②Under Settings > Vehicle Settings, set Boot and Connection Delay to 10–20 to improve automatic connection. ③If it recurs, check the battery level.

CAST+ · The connection keeps dropping and reconnecting

①On vehicles that also support CarPlay, switch the connection protocol to CarPlay and check stability. ②Under Settings > Vehicle Settings, set boot/connection delay to 10–20. ③Remove phones and old devices from the vehicle Bluetooth list, then register only CAST again. ④If it persists, submit a support request with a video of the symptoms.

CAST+ · The connection became unstable after a factory AVN update

Changes to connection settings or power conditions after a factory vehicle update may have an effect. The cause is identified by checking both the vehicle and device. Under Settings > Vehicle Settings, set boot/connection delay to 10–20 and monitor whether the issue continues. If connection behavior changes significantly, WAGLE MEDIA releases compatible firmware and provides information through notices and customer service.

CAST+ · The screen/video appears, but there is no sound

Bluetooth conflicts between the phone and vehicle are a common cause. ①Completely remove the phone from the vehicle Bluetooth list and try again. ②Check that media volume adjusts normally. ③Check for factory vehicle updates. If it still does not work, delete all registered devices and register only CAST again.

CAST+ · My American/German car keeps disconnecting / USB power seems weak

American and German vehicles from around 2020 may disconnect because of insufficient USB power. Under Settings > Vehicle Settings > Charging Current, lower the default 900 to 500. If stable, increase to 600 and 700 to find a suitable value. Lower current improves connection stability but slows battery charging. For OTTOCAST, use a Y-cable for additional power.

CAST+ / OTTOCAST · I was told to reset it—which reset?

The target depends on the symptoms. (1) Vehicle AVN — No connection, picture without sound, or random disconnection: ①Delete only the phone from vehicle Bluetooth. ②Delete all registered devices and register only CAST again. ③If unresolved, factory-reset the vehicle AVN (navigation favorites, phonebook, etc. will be deleted). (2) CAST factory reset — Frozen apps, lag, or system issues: Settings > More > System > Reset Options > Erase All Data. For OTTOCAST, start at step ② in (1).

OTTOCAST · No blue light, and no connection screen appears in the vehicle

①Delete all existing devices registered in vehicle Bluetooth and register OTTOCAST again (existing connections can conflict). ②If an iPhone is already connected through wireless CarPlay, as in a BMW X3, disconnect its wireless CarPlay, delete the vehicle from the iPhone's Bluetooth list, then reconnect OTTOCAST. ③If still unrecognized, pack the components so we can collect and inspect them.

CAST+ / OTTOCAST · My replacement device will not connect to the vehicle

If the previous CAST remains in the vehicle Bluetooth device list, the new device may not connect. Delete the previous CAST first, then connect the new product. Follow the same steps after a refurbished replacement or vehicle change. If it still fails, delete all registered devices and register again.

CAST+ · Can I use another C-to-C cable? / The screen disappeared after changing cables

A data-capable cable is required to transmit the screen. Charging-only cables supply power without displaying the screen, so use of the included genuine A–C/C–C cable is recommended. If symptoms began after changing cables, switch back to the genuine cable and check.

CAST Lite · USB is not recognized after pairing / My phone does not connect automatically

①Unplug Lite from the vehicle USB port and reconnect. ②If using Android Auto in the vehicle for the first time, try connecting the phone by cable first. ③Update Android Auto on your phone. ④To switch from a connected iPhone to an Android phone, disconnect iPhone Bluetooth and toggle Android Bluetooth off and on. ⑤Check that phone Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on; if the issue persists, unpair and pair again.

02

Data and apps

CAST+ · LTE will not connect and the SIM is not recognized after an update

Reinsert the SIM and check APN values. An LG U+ M2M SIM requires m2m-router.lguplus.co.kr (MCC 450, MNC 06, username and password blank). Deleting the factory-configured values disconnects data. Toggle airplane mode on and off 2–3 times or restart. If unresolved, submit a support request with an APN screen capture.

CAST+ · No internet with another carrier's SIM or a data-sharing SIM

Each SIM requires its own APN. For LG U+ data sharing, clear the m2m-router value and select internet.lguplus.co.kr. For MVNO or other-carrier SIMs, enter that carrier's APN. The SIM can be inserted into other devices, but each device needs its APN configured.

CAST+ · Apps such as YouTube and YouTube Music will not update

Auto-update blocking is preventing the update. Disable it under Settings > Other Settings, then update the apps in the Play Store. We recommend turning blocking back on afterward. Preinstalled apps cannot be removed, so resolve the issue through updates rather than deletion.

CAST+ · TVING, Coupang Play, YouTube Premium, or Netflix login/playback fails

This usually occurs because auto-update blocking has left the app outdated. Disable blocking, update the app, and sign in again. Check that SIM/hotspot data is connected. Login failures on the latest Netflix version and inability to find/install Disney+ can result from app policy changes; contact support for available steps. Netflix's top/bottom/side borders are difficult to adjust because of its DRM L3 architecture.

CAST+ · YouTube/Netflix does not fill the screen; black bars appear on the sides

Black bars at the sides are normal when the vehicle display’s aspect ratio (for example, 24:9) differs from the video’s ratio (usually 16:9). Tap the video to show the full-screen button and enlarge the picture. Netflix’s black borders around the picture (letterboxing) are difficult to adjust because of the DRM level (L3).

CAST+ · GPS does not lock, navigation position is unstable, or TMAP guidance stops

①Enable device GPS, set Settings > Location to High Accuracy (GPS + Wi-Fi + Mobile Networks), and turn Google Location Accuracy ON. ②Toggle Additional Vehicle GPS Reception under Settings > Vehicle Settings to find the right setting (most Hyundai/Kia vehicles can use vehicle GPS; some American/German vehicles use the device GPS). ③If the issue persists, reinstall TMAP. ④Remote support is unavailable; submit a request with the device position, navigation app, and vehicle GPS setting.

CAST+ · Video sound is missing while driving, music lowers during guidance, or steering-wheel buttons do not control YouTube Music

CAST+ continues playing video while driving; with the Curtain app enabled, only the picture is hidden and audio continues. Volume drops during route guidance because navigation audio takes priority. Turning off TMAP/Kakao Navi/NAVER Map voice wake words (A. / Hey Kakao / CLOVA) can reduce this and resolve steering-wheel control issues.

CAST+ · Banking, payment, or online-course apps will not run

CAST+, OTTOCAST, and CAST All-in-One use a custom Android environment with open system privileges. Banking, securities, and payment apps that inspect device security, some authentication/security apps, online-course apps that block screen recording, and the Kakao T driver app are therefore restricted. This may depend on the vehicle/device/app combination, and there is no workaround. Please use a smartphone for financial transactions.

03

Updates and recovery

CAST+ / OTTOCAST / All-in-One · Internet keeps disconnecting and apps freeze after an update

①Disable auto-update blocking under Settings > Other Settings, then update all apps in the Play Store (most important). ②If unresolved, restart. ③If it persists, factory-reset via Settings > System > Reset Options > Erase All Data. When requesting support, include your SIM carrier, plan, and CAST version date.

CAST+ / OTTOCAST / All-in-One · How do I check the current version and update?

Open System Update on the home screen to check the current version and whether it is up to date. Install available updates there via wireless OTA. Update individual apps through the Play Store after disabling auto-update blocking. For CAST Lite, while connected to the vehicle with phone data and Bluetooth connected, enter 192.168.1.101 in a browser. No update is necessary if it is operating normally.

CAST+ · The device will not power on / The on-device LCD stays off

Press and hold the power button; a short press will not turn it on. A fully discharged device may take time to start. Charge it sufficiently with a standard home charger (5V/2A), then retry (do not use a fast charger). To restore the on-device display, hold the volume + and − buttons for about 10 seconds, then wait 1–2 minutes. If there is no response, request service.

CAST+ · It keeps rebooting and never starts

Repeated reboots without a normal startup require device inspection. Unstable power can also cause this, so first try the genuine cable and another USB port. If it continues, request service through customer support. After collection, firmware updates and testing will identify the cause.

CAST+ · Split-screen apps keep disappearing or need two attempts / The dashboard disappeared after an update

When the CAST main unit switches off, the icon layout may reset and split-screen apps disappear; our technical team is investigating the cause. Recreate a split-screen app through Curtain app > Split-screen apps > + > App settings > Add to home screen. Home layout, including navigation bar and dashboard, may vary by OS version; include your version when contacting us.

CAST+ · The battery keeps draining / It will not charge above 80% / The battery is swollen

Charging while connected to the vehicle is normal, and charge is limited to 80% for safety (no 100% option). Short drives, several days without use, and apps that wake the device, such as emergency alerts, increase drain. Disable those alerts and disconnect or power off CAST during long parking periods. A swollen battery is a safety issue: stop use immediately, disconnect power, and request service.
